Alice Johnson

Alice JohnsonSHERWOOD – Alice M. Johnson, 94, Minot, formerly of Sherwood; died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at a Minot hospital.

She was born March 17, 1914 in Sherwood, the daughter of Knute and Hilma (Wilson) Flem.  She was raised and educated in Sherwood, graduating from Sherwood High School in 1932.  She attended Minot Normal School and Minot Business College.

Alice married Wilbur O. Johnson on January 2, 1934, in Glenburn.  They moved to Havre, Mont., where Alice worked for Woolworth’s and the Buttrey Company.  They moved to Malta, Mont., where she worked as a telephone operator. 

In 1944, they purchased a dry cleaning business in Cut Bank, Mont.  They returned to Sherwood in 1947 where Wilbur was in the farm implement business.  Wilbur died August 5, 1987.

Alice was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the OSLCW, Sherwood, the Sherwood Study Club, Order of Eastern Star, the PTA, the Tripoli Club, was a Girl Scout Leader and participated in league bowling for many years.

Family:  son, Robert Johnson, Sherwood; daughters, Jean Larson, Minot; Debra Johnson, Bismarck; grandchildren, Stephen (Heidi) Johnson, Carrie Johnson, Jaime Bland, Jennifer (Kevin) Kissner, Kimberly Larson, Chris (Sherry) Berglof, Hollie Archibald, Katie Berglof, Alison (Mario) Pesacreta and Brandon Berglof; great-grandchildren, Kylee Johnson; Cameron, Gabrielle, Maxwell and Rhianna Kissner; Brianna, Mikalyn and Matthew Berglof; Ashton Archibald and Nolan Berglof; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Gay Johnson; and sisters, Bernice, Helen, Eunice and Lallas.

Funeral:  Monday, January 19, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood

Burial:  Union Cemetery, Sherwood, in the spring

Visitation:  Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall, and Monday two hours prior to the service at the church.
