Anita GrengsSHERWOOD – Anita Katherine Grengs, 71, Sherwood/Mohall; died Friday, September 18, 2009, at a Rochester, MN, hospital.

Anita was born January 13, 1938 in Minot to Lloyd and Anne (Zeltinger) Owen. She attended school in Sherwood, ND and after her fathers passing, she moved to Mankato, MN, where she graduated in 1955 from Loyola High School.  She also graduated in 1958 from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester.

Anita and Kasper (Gene) Grengs were married November 15, 1958 in Sherwood. Anita worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at the Renville-Bottineau Memorial Hospital and at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, both in Mohall. She retired from the nursing home in 2006. She also helped with the farming, trucking and theatre business with her husband.  Gene died January 4, 1996.

Anita was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood. She loved to travel, meet new friends, enjoyed sewing, playing cards and scrabble. She was known for her “positive pens” and loved and lived by the Serenity Prayer.

Family: children, Julie (Grengs) Rostad, Minot; Karen (Tim) Marland, Minot; Gary Grengs, Loraine; and Greg (Lisa) Grengs, Sherwood; grandchildren, Anna Carroll, Ian Thomas and Myla Grengs; step-sister, Margaret (Joe) Hennes, Minot; step-brother, Charles Rowe, Glendale, AZ.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Jay Grengs; and sister, Thelma Louise Owen.

Funeral: Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood

Family Service: Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood

Burial: Union Cemetery, Sherwood

Visitation: Wednesday from Noon to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home

Memorials:  Memorials are preferred to the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, St. James Catholic Church or the donor’s choice.
