David Schelling
He was born December 22, 1952 in Mohall to Harry and Audrey (Campbell) Schelling. He was raised in Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School in 1970. He attended Minot State University for a time. He married Janet Abernathey March 2, 1974 in Lansford. They lived in the Mohall area where he worked in agriculture and assisted his father with the family farm. He worked for many years as a bulk driver for Cenex and did repair work on furnaces. He retired for health reasons in November of 2006. David and Janet moved to Minot in March of 2008. David was an active member of United Methodist Church, Mohall. He was a Lay Speaker, Lay Leader, Chairman of the Pastor/Parish Relations Committee, Sunday school teacher, served as the Administrative Board President and also served as the Church Treasurer. He also served on the Mohall school board. David was an avid sports fan. An ardent New York Yankees fan, the church members gave him and Janet a trip to a Yankees game in 2007. In addition to the Yankees, David was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Celtics. He loved watching his children play sports. Family: loving wife of 35 years, Janet; children, Christopher (Karen) Schelling, Minot; Stephen Schelling (girlfriend, Sarah Gregor), Fargo; Mandy Schelling (boyfriend, Kevin Seehafer), Minot; granddaughters, Emma Jalin and Sundie Campbell; brother, Michael Schelling, Waterloo, IA; sister, Leann (Bill) Bayman, Mandan; Mother- and father-in-law, Norman and Gladys Abernathey, Minot; brothers-in-law, Dale Abernathey, Colorado Springs, CO; Harvey (Linda) Abernathey, Novato, CA; Bruce (Shelly) Abernathey, Lansford; sisters-in-law, Diana Abernathey, Eugene, OR; Terri (Mike) Larson, Minot; Lynette (Randy) Helgeson, Lansford; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. David was greeted after passing by his parents, infant brother, Brian James; and grandparents, Cory and Annie Campbell, and Frank and Hannah Schelling.
