Della Watson
April 23, 1936 – April 1, 2009

Della Mae (Streich) WatsonMAXBASS - Della Watson, 72, of Maxbass, succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the Westhope Nursing Home.

Della was born April 23, 1936 in Bantry to Herbert and Nellie (Paige) Jones.  She attended school in Bantry until they moved to Minot.  She graduated from Minot High School in 1954 with high honors for not ever missing a day of school, grades 1-12; something she was proud of.  After graduation, she married Lee Streich on June 20, 1954, in Maxbass.  They farmed and lived in Mount Rose Township until his death in 1978.

Della worked hard at family life, worked at the Peoples State Bank in Newburg, helped Lee manage the Bum Steer Bar in Mohall, and was very active in the local community.  She was a notary public, member of the Maxbass School Board and Methodist Church Board.  She also was on the committee to promote, design, and build the Bottineau County Courthouse.

Della married Charles Watson on May 3, 1985, gaining four more kids.  In 1986, Charles and Della moved to Desert Hot Springs CA for some new and exciting adventures.  While there, they remodeled the “cabin,” and managed RV resorts and mobile home parks.  They made many new friends and wonderful memories.  They retired and returned to North Dakota in 1999 to be closer to family.  Much more fishing, card playing, dancing, and laughing was done until Della decided to enter the nursing home in 2003.  After that, she surprised her family with “Moments of MOM” when needed.

Family:  Della will be remembered by her husband, Charles “Jr.”; eight children (4+4); Maureena (David) Hoskin, Pick City, ND; Todd (Cindy) Streich and Carey (Julie) Streich, both of Maxbass, ND; Melanie (Brian) Gessner, Upham ND; Steve (Mary) Watson, Bottineau, ND;  Pam Thomas, LaQuinta, CA; Randy Watson, Fairbanks, AK; Lora Lee (Ed) Hernandez, Las Vegas, NV; 29 grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Broker (Bill Nelson), Minot, ND; brother-in-law, Leroy (Carol) Limke and his family, Carpio, ND; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Della was greeted after passing by her first husband, Lee; parents, Herb and Nellie; sisters, Anna Lou Thompson and Ruby Limke; and the many other relatives and friends that have passed.
