Doris Johnson
October 4, 1925 – August 18, 2009

SHERWOOD - Doris Johnson, 83, Sherwood, passed away Tuesday August 18, 2009 in the Kenmare Hospital.

She was born October 4, 1925, near Sherwood, the daughter of Earl and Matilda (Lee) Mattern.  She was raised and educated in the Sherwood area and at one time worked at a hotel in Mohall and also did some babysitting.

She was united in marriage with Carl Johnson on October 22, 1946 at Kenmare, ND.  The couple made their home on his family farm, rural Sherwood, where they took over the farming operations.  The couple began spending their winters in Kenmare in 1988 and their summers on the farm, rural Sherwood.  Carl passed away on November 10, 2000.  In October of 2008, Doris moved to the Baptist Home in Kenmare.

She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood.

She is survived by her son, Alan C. Johnson, Jackson Hole, WY; sisters, Diane Coffin, Panama City, FL and Mary Anne Bell, El Paso, TX; brothers, Maynard Mattern, Hatton, ND and David Mattern, Princeton, MN and a numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and brother, Robert Mattern.

Funeral:  Friday, August 21, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood

Burial will take place at Union Cemetery, Sherwood.
