Edith Pearson

Edith PearsonANTLER – Edith Violet Celeste Pearson, 91, Antler; died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at a Mohall nursing home.

Edith was born October 28, 1917 in Wheaton Township, Bottineau County, to Magnus and Ellen (Bergquist) Engstrom.  She attended school in Wheaton Township.  She married Arthur Feland June 20, 1936.  They lived on the Feland homestead located in Sherman Township near Antler where they raised their three children.  Edith worked and farmed right along with Art for many years.  In 1971, Arthur Feland died.  Edith worked as a CNA at the Renville Bottineau Memorial Hospital for 15 years. 

On June 25, 1977, Edith married Arthur Pearson or rural Sherwood.  Art died in April of 1998.  Following his death, she moved to Mohall.  She entered the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall in August of 2007.

Edith liked to crochet and made many beautiful pieces that she gave to her children and grandchildren.  She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Antler, and was active with the Willing Workers.  In her younger years, she sang duets with many people, and also sang in the church choir.  Edith loved music and playing her guitar, and was a self-taught accordion player.  There was a lot of music and singing as the children grew up.  Edith was a very dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Family:  daughter, Arlene (Richard) Schelling, Mohall; daughters-in-law, Elaine Feland, rural Antler; and Marlene Feland, Dickinson; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sons, Gabriel and Ron; and brothers, Milton and Avin Engstrom.

Funeral:  Friday, July 10, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Antler

Burial:  in the church cemetery

Family Service:  Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the church
