Edna Schiffman
September 14, 1917 – June 17, 2008
SHERWOOD
- Edna Elaine Schiffman, 90, of Mohall, formerly of Sherwood, went to be
with the Lord on June 17, 2008 at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Leonard, her
loving husband of 67 years, and her children were by her side.
Edna was born Sept. 14, 1917 at Pillager, Minn., the daughter of Sheldon and Anna (Oberg) Ackerson. The family moved to Broadacres, Saskatchewan shortly after her birth.
The family lived in Broadacres, Saskatchewan for 12 years. The fall of 1929, the family moved to the Sherwood area.
Edna graduated from Sherwood High School in 1936. She continued her education at Minot State Teacher’s College.
Leonard and Edna were married June 14, 1941 in Tacoma, Wash.. They farmed in Prosperity Township near Sherwood until they retired and moved into Sherwood in 1980. They entered the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall, in November of 2004.
Edna was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Sherwood. She also was a member of Prosperity Homemakers. Edna loved taking care of her flowers and garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family: Edna is survived by Leonard, her husband of 67 years and her half-brother Donald Ackerson, Sherwood; her son, Robert (Eiko) of Aurora, CO; her three daughters, JoAnne (Jeff) Hurdelbrink of Arvada, CO; Janette (Buck) Robinson of Coleharbor, ND; and Joyce Pistol of New Rockford, ND; seven grandchildren, Teri (Bobby) Archer, Jill and Jack (Julia) Hurdelbrink, Shawn (Marcie) and Tracey Robinson (fiancée Scott Samuelson), and Stacie (Justin Norris) and Cody Heskin; and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Schiffman, Alex Archer, Martin Robinson and Sharon Norris.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her half-sister, Edith.
Funeral: Friday, June 20, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood
Burial: Union Cemetery, Sherwood
Rosary: Today at 7:00 p.m. at the church
Visitation: Today from Noon to 4:30 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall. Visitation also one hour prior to the Rosary and funeral services.
Memorials: As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to St. James Catholic Parish or Good Samaritan Society Mohall.
