Elaine KeithTOLLEY – Elaine Keith, 82, Mohall, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at a Mohall nursing home.

She was born July 25, 1927, in Ivanhoe Township, Renville County, to Theodore and Annie (Helmers) Hansen.  She attended grade school in the surrounding area and graduated from Tolley High School in 1945.

Elaine was united in marriage to Dwayne Ellis Keith on December 28, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tolley.  They lived and farmed in Brandon Township, Renville County, until he retired in 1998.  They had one daughter, Deborah Denice, who was born on December 4, 1949 and died on September 4, 1967.

Elaine attended Minot State College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Educable Mental Retardation.  She taught at rural schools in Renville County for eight years and first grade at the Mohall Public School for 38 years.  She received the Golden Apple Award in 1991-92.  She was a member of the national, state and local education associations.

Elaine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Tolley, and a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  She served as Secretary and Treasurer of Aid Association for Lutherans, Branch 1402, for 13 years.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling and have been in all 50 states and have taken a cruise.  They spent one winter in Florida and have spent winters in Apache Junction, Arizona from 1992 to 2005.

Family:  husband of 62 years, Dwayne; sisters, Eunice (Robert) Hembree, Minot, and Judy (Dave) Fitzgerald, Watford City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah; parents, sister, Theoda Ann Johnson; and an infant brother.

Funeral:  Monday, March 1, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tolley

Burial:  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot

Family Service:  Today, 7:00 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall
