Henry Hagen

Henry O. HagenMOHALL – Henry O. Hagen, 92, of Mohall; died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at a Minot hospital.

He was born July 18, 1916 near Noonan to Ole and Therese (Lande) Hagen.  He was raised on the family farm and attended a country school.  He worked in the area coal mines and on farms prior to serving in the U.S. Army.

He entered the Army March 29, 1941, serving as a Corporal with the 1745th SCU Vet Food Inspection Detachment.  He was honorably discharged October 5, 1945.  He returned to North Dakota and helped on the family farm.

Henry married Mildred Nelson April 6, 1946, in Minot.  They took over the operation of the Nelson family farm in Sherman Township of Bottineau County.  After farming for many years, they retired in 1977 and moved into Mohall.  Henry entered the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Mohall in November 2007.

Henry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, and a former member of First Lutheran Church, Antler, prior to its closing.  He was a member of the George T. Taylor American Legion Post #52, in Mohall.  Henry loved children, pets, and working with livestock. He enjoyed listening to music and ball games on his radio.

Family:  wife of 62 years, Mildred; son, Don Hagen, Glen Ullin; daughters, Betty (Dale) Nordstrom, Minot; Allie (Ron) Sagness, Bowbells; Cari (Bill) Liebel, Watford City; Kathy (Darrell) Richter, Brooklyn Park, MN; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Hagen, Crosby; sisters-in-law, Mary Cameron, Sherwood; and Evelyn Hagen, Crosby.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Olaf, Melvin, Arthur, and Hector; sister, Marie Braathen; and son-in-law, Terry Torgerson.

Funeral:  Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall.

Burial:  Mohall Community Cemetery, in the spring

Family Service:  Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home

Memorials:  Memorials preferred to the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Mohall and the Mohall Ambulance Service.

Visitation:  Thursday, January 8, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.
