ANTLER
– Irene Janet Ledoux, 91, of Antler, died Saturday, August 2, 2008, at a
Mohall nursing home.
She was born October 1, 1916, in Antler, the youngest of nine children, to Eric (John) and Ida (Moody) Engstrom. She was raised and educated southwest of Antler.
Irene married Albert Ledoux September 28, 1941 in Westhope. They farmed and raised their five children southeast of Antler in Antler Township in Bottineau County. They moved into Antler and, in addition to farming, they owned and operated the Antler Hardware Store for many years. Albert died September 17, 1978.
Irene was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society, the homemakers club and the Antler Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, rides around the Antler Creek and out to their farm. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Hawaii and Alaska. She visited Washington State many times as some of her children and grandchildren reside there.
Family: sons, Leonard (Ruth), Covington, WA; Arthur (Bekki), Minot; Gary (Deborah), Antler; daughter, Barbara (Ronald) Tofteland, Puyallup, WA; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Rachel Engstrom, Minot; Mabel Davis, Cornersville, IN; Louise Deschamp, Salt Lake City, UT; Vera Ledoux, Augusta, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Sharon Pettys; sisters, Olga Wille, Stella Floyd and Edna Wille; brothers, Roy, Edwin, Noel, Lester and Verne Engstrom.
Funeral: Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Antler Community Church, Antler
Burial: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Antler
