Laurie E. MartinANTLER – Laurie Ernest Martin, 75, Mohall, formerly of Bowbells, died Wed., March 24, 2010, at his home.

He was born December 31, 1934 in Bowbells to Royal and Anna (Ekstrom) Martin.  He graduated in 1953 from Bowbells Public School where he participated in sports.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and worked on tanks during the Korean Conflict.  He was honorably discharged in 1955 and returned to North Dakota.  He relocated to Spokane, WA, where he was employed by Boeing.  Being mechanically inclined, he worked for Hyster Forklift Company fixing forklifts in Yakima and the surrounding area.

In 1996, Laurie married MaryLou (Chrest) Hurdelbrink in Yakima.  They moved to Mohall when he retired in 1997.  They made their home in Mohall where Laurie did what he loved best, hunting, fishing and helping everyone with anything.

Laurie was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Antler.

Family:  wife, MaryLou, Mohall; sons, Jeff and Greg, both of Vancouver, WA; daughters, Karen (Keith) Fahl, Battleground, WA, and Stacy (Cliff) Yelton, Woodburn, OK; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; five step children, ten step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren, all of whom considered him to be their grandfather and a wonderful man; brothers, Bob (Charlotte), Ron (Joan) and Wes (Donna) Martin, all of Seattle; sisters, Marlene (Jim) Teman and Kay Unmuth, all of the Seattle area; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Laurie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sharon, Shirley and Eula; and brother, Allan.

Memorial Service:  Monday, March 29, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Antler

Burial:  Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church Cemetery, rural Antler

Memorials:  Memorials preferred to an organization of the Donor’s Choice in Laurie’s name.
