Lillian Magnuson
January 3, 1925 – February 18, 2010

Lillian A. MagnusonMOHALL – Lillian Alice Magnuson, 85, Mohall, formerly of Sherwood, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at a Mohall nursing home.

She was born January 3, 1925 in Everett, WA, to Albert and Emma (Bates) Peterson.  After high school graduation, she worked for Boeing Aircraft in the Seattle area until the end of World War II.

Lillian and Arnold Magnuson were united in marriage on October 25, 1945.  After their marriage, they returned to North Dakota.  They lived and farmed in Bottineau and Renville Counties until 1964 when they moved into Sherwood.

Lillian worked as a waitress for several years in Mohall and Sherwood.  In the fall of 1967, she began employment as the head cook at the Sherwood School.  She held that job for 17 years.  While at the school, she was known for her long johns, cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls and her delicious meals.  Arnold died May 13, 1983.

Lillian moved to Mohall in 1992 and worked for the Green Thumb Meals on Wheels program.  She also worked at the Good Samaritan Society and for Midwest Teleservices International (MTI).

Lillian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall; a member and past board member of the Friendly Neighbors Senior Citizens, Mohall; a charter member of the Bothun-Peterson American Legion Auxiliary Post 213, Sherwood; and a past member of the Sherwood Senior Citizens.

Family:  daughter, Andrea (Dean) Mortensen, Mohall; sons, Richard Magnuson, Idaho Falls, ID; and Allan Magnuson, Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat (John) Murphy, Woodburn, OR; Joanne (Robert) DeLong, Whidbey Island, WA; brother, James (Barb) Peterson, Everett, WA; brother-in-law, Virgil Hanson, Turlock, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, and infant son, parents, daughter-in-law, Linda Magnuson; sister, Mary Hanson; and an infant granddaughter.

Funeral:  Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall

Burial:  Union Cemetery, Sherwood

Memorials:  Memorials are preferred
