Lyle Handeland
Lyle was born November 10, 1934 in Lansford to Theodore and Alma (Wiese) Handeland. He was raised on the family farm and attended school at Mount Rose and Lansford Schools. He took over the operation of the family farm, located in Mount Rose Township of Bottineau County, in 1963. During the winter months of the 1960s, he worked on the construction of area missile sites for the U.S. Air Force. Lyle married Joyce Coder November 8, 1963 in Minot. He took great pride in his farming and ranching operation until 1999, when he retired. Lyle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford. He loved camping, bowling, fishing, and spending time with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Family: loving wife of 45 years, Joyce; children, Kenny Handeland, What Cheer, IA; Misty Martin, South Korea; Jody Handeland, Fairfax, MN; Darcy Schave, Rapid City, SD; Julie (Danny) Thompson, Mohall; Todd (Annette) Handeland, Brooklyn Park, MN; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted Handeland, Minot; Donald (Arlys) Handeland, Gillette, WY; Larry Handeland, Minot; sisters, Elvira Anderson, Glenburn; Gladys (Norman) Abernathey, Minot; Erma (Vern) Vlach, Cadiz, KY; Doris Huddelson, Silverton, OR; and Marion (Leonard) Rice, Pagosa Springs, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lyle was preceded in death by his daughter, Kyle; parents, sisters, Helen Helming and Hazel Pendley; and brother, Melvin Handeland.
