Marvin Mau
Marvin was born October 3, 1944 at Trinity hospital in Minot to Walter A. and Charlotte (Douglas) Mau. He was raised on the family farm near Mohall and attended the Mohall Public School. Marvin married Eileen Frederickson in October of 1964. They divorced in March of 2001. This union was blessed with two children, Kimberly Dawn and Donavon Kim. Marvin worked for the Farmers Union Oil Co. during high school until he took over the operation of the family farm in 1967. He farmed and ranched until 1996. During that time, he was also employed by Osterberg Contracting, Triangle Trucking, Paraffin Service and Curt Bahl Pumping Service. He was Brandon Township Treasurer for five years and a Renville County commissioner for 12 years. He went to work for the ND Department of Transportation in Mohall in 1996, and later transferred to the Hebron area where he also served as the city mayor. Later, he operated his own tire shop in Richardton. He moved to Minot and worked at Home of Economy. At the time of his death, he was employed by Gates Manufacturing in Lansford. Marv was confirmed at the Methodist Church in Mohall, and later became a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall. He helped organize and was a member of the Prairie Patrol CB Club, Souris River Sidebanders and the Wheel & Deal Square Dance Club. Family: daughter, Kimberly (Dennis) Green, Minot; son, Donavon (Darcy) Mau, Hillsboro; grandchildren, Brett, Shawn and Austin Green, Minot; Shania, Simon and Olivia Mau, Hillsboro; sister, Shirley Humes, Arvada, CO; brother-in-law, Bob Owens, Spokane, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Merna Owens; and nephew, Todd Owens.
