Ruth F. Henderson
April 5, 1921 – January 17, 2010

SHERWOOD – Ruth F. Henderson, 88, Sherwood, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at a Bottineau hospital.

She was born April 5, 1921 in Sherwood to F.W. and Hannah (Pikop) Stanley.  She was raised and educated in Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1939.

Ruthie was united in marriage to Bryce F. Henderson on June 2, 1941 in Glasgow, MT.  They lived and farmed in Wheaton Township, Bottineau County, until 1953 when they moved into Sherwood.

Ruthie worked at the Citizens State Bank Exchange and later at the Farmers Union Elevator, both Sherwood, until her retirement in 1986.  Bryce died in 1992.

Ruthie was a life long member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood, and served as the treasurer of the Lutheran Women’s Group.  She belonged to Tripoli Club and enjoyed teaching card games to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She would never turn down a game of Shanghai or Hand and Foot with the “girls.”  She truly enjoyed an occasional visit to the casino, her daily trips to Nettie’s Diner and having tea with her niece, Shirley Ritter.

Family:  daughters, Jane (Rolland) Talley, Bottineau; and Judy Hurdelbrink, Mandan; sons, David, Sherwood; Bruce (Jan), and John (Nanci), all of Bottineau; grandchildren, Joanne (Jeff) Seifert, Wade (Dawn) Talley, Sherry (Maurice) Broderick, Michelle (Rod) McQuarrie, Tim (Theresa) Hurdelbrink, Terri Fahrenholtz, Jessica (Adam) Jones, Bryce (Melissa) Henderson and Breahn (Casey) Vokolek; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Leo) McCrory, Mohall; sisters-in-law, Esther Stanley, Joyce Roy, Janice Schepp and Belisa Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bryce; sisters, Florence Steeves, Winnie Eggen, Catherine Brown and Fern Weber; brothers, Raymond, Morris, Bill and Bob Stanley; an infant brother, Leroy; and son-in-law, Rick Hurdelbrink.

Funeral:  Thursday, January 21, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood

Burial:  Union Cemetery, Sherwood

Family Service:  Wednesday, January 20, at 8:00 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall
