Sylvia Ring
August 3, 1920 – December 23, 2009

MOHALL – Sylvia Ring, 89, Mohall; died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at a Mohall nursing home.

She was born August 3, 1920 in Watson, MN, to Palmer and Marie (Velte) Haugland.  She was raised in Watson and was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1938.

She married Herbert Leonard Ring at her parent’s home on April 4, 1942.  In 1946, they purchased a farm in Grassland Township, Renville County, near Grano.  They farmed together until their retirement in 1994 and they moved to Mohall in 1998.  Sylvia entered the Good Samaritan Society nursing home, Mohall, in 2006.  Herbert died February 20, 2007.

Sylvia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, Renville County Farmers Union, George T. Taylor American Legion Auxiliary, Mohall Women’s Club, Clay Center Homemakers and the Friendly Neighbors Senior Citizens.

Family:  daughters, Susan (Michael) Witteman, Mohall; Gail Ring, Glendive, MT; grandsons, Sean (Melissa) Johnson, Aberdeen, SD; Jason (Karnell) Johnson, Mankato, MN; Brady (Cara) Witteman, Mohall; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Erin, Keeley, Callie and Carter; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joan Haugland, Ragna Ring, Betty Ring, Agnes Knutson, Harold and Muriel Ring, Raymond and Helena Ring, Orlo and Olive Wipf, Arnold and Ida Bakke and James Franta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert Alan Ring; husband, Herbert; brothers, Archie and Donald Haugland; and sister, Carol Haugland Franta.

Funeral:  Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall

Family Service:  Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home

Burial:  Mohall Community Cemetery
