TOLLEY
– Wesley Gene Wenker, 60, of Tolley, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at a
Bismarck hospital.
He was born Sept. 19, 1947 in Kenmare to Valentine and Winnie (Jensen) Wenker. He was raised in Tolley and graduated from Tolley High School in 1964. He graduated from Mayville State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science with a minor in Geography. He received his teaching certificate in 1970.
With no teaching jobs available, he started working at the Tolley Bar for Lawrence Boyington. He worked there for many years until purchasing the bar in 1985. He operated Wes’s Bar until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Tolley Senior Citizens and a former member of the Tolley Jaycee’s. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, pool, darts and was a great joke teller. He was a great cook and acquired and sold special seasonings. He taught others how to fillet northerns, removing ALL the Y bones. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends and customers at his bar. He loved music, dancing and caring for animals, especially dogs. He was always willing to help anyone in need no matter what.
Family: sisters, Sandy Alexander, Bonney Lake, WA; Cindy (Gary) Neiland, Lacey, WA; six nieces and nephews; and ten great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service: Friday, March 28, 2008; at 2:00 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tolley
Burial: McKinney Cemetery, rural Tolley
